Indicative fee information for self-funders
Care Fees
Following a pre-admission assessment, one of our managers will discuss the fees with resident or their representative. The fees are based on the individual's needs and the type of accommodation chosen (size of room and facilities). The figures below should be taken as a guide to charges. Care fees are due 4-weekly in advance by standing order and are reviewed in March and August or if there is a significant change in need. We will always give at least 4 weeks notice of any change.
The fees include accommodation, food, light, heat, laundry and all necessary personal care as would normally be required by a resident of a residential care home.
Currently the 2020/21 fees are:
Room | Residential fee per week per person | Nursing Fee per week* (Excluding FNC) |
Single non ensuite | £800 | £825 |
Single ensuite | £850 | £875 |
Single premier ensuite | £850 | £875 |
Suite – ensuite | £950 | £1050 |
Companion rooms are also available. | £800 | £825 |
*Nursing Care: depends on the choice of room, services required and individual circumstances. Additionally the government pays the “Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC)” - This is paid directly to the home and is in addition to the fees quoted. This contributes toward the time our nurses.
Funding Sources
NHS Continuing Health Care - this is funded care that is paid for by the NHS where a resident has been assessed by the NHS as eligible, however there may be additional charges for other non- health related services such as additional service, larger rooms etc which we will discuss with the resident or their appointed representative at the time. Click here for the CHC guidance.
Social Services/Local Authority - Some residents will receive funding from the Local Authority if they are unable to afford the fees. Follow this link for more information. Social Services will undertake their own financial assessment to determine if a resident meets their criteria for a funding contribution to the fees. Please note that we must rely on residents being able to meet their fees for the foreseeable future, if necessary with help from relatives. Sadly the present levels of Social Services and NHS support are well below the cost of the care we provide and, with great regret the current Social Services fee levels mean that a top-up is needed from friends or family.
Sometimes after assessment additional care or services will be identified as being required. This could be such things as additional equipment or one to one care. We will always approach the NHS or Social Services with the resident’s representatives to see if the resident is eligible for these for free, if not we will discuss the affordability with the resident or their appointed representative.
Additional charges:
Not included in the basic fee is payment of ‘extras’ including non-prescription medicines, hairdresser, newspapers, clothing, own choice items of a luxury or personal nature, etc. Residents can either leave a small float, we call their “small needs” account or we can put the expenditure on account and we will invoice monthly or quarterly. If you are unsure of whether you will be charged for something or not, please ask.
The agreed fees do not cover the purchase or provision of additional personal goods and services as indicated below:
- Alcohol, non menu foods, tuck shop items
- Batteries
- Clothing
- Dry Cleaning

- Escorting service users
- Hairdressing (the costs are displayed in the salon)

The items marked with * are usually available to the resident from the NHS without charge.
Where such items are provided free of charge to the resident by the NHS, there will be no charge made by the Home for such items. The resident may also be eligible to receive financial help from a statutory agency towards the cost of items marked *. However, if such services or goods are not available free of charge from the NHS or Social Services, or, if the resident chooses not to seek such services or goods from these sources, then the agreed fees will not include the purchase or provision from the Home of any of such items and will be charged separately. The Home will make every effort to obtain services already available from the NHS, Social Services or other appropriate organisation without any charge to the resident.
Contract
You can find a standard contract, which provides more information, by clicking here. Every resident is an individual and we always personalise the contract to your individual requirements.
Unlike some care homes, we do not charge an ‘administration fee’ to move into our home, and all our fees, plus any extras required, are clearly laid out for you to see. That means full transparency so that you can plan financially for the future.
If moving elsewhere the notice period is detailed in the contact. After death we normally charge, in line with Social Services for 3 days to allow time for families to deal sensitively with the situation. If you require longer please discuss with manager at the time. We always appreciate this is a sensitive time and will support you.
When you visit us, please feel free to discuss any aspect of cost with our Home Manager.
