At Woodleigh Care Home, we offer exceptional levels of person-centred care in a wonderfully homely environment. Our specialist team of dedicated carers go out of their way to ensure the residents are safe, comfortable and feel valued and respected.
Engaging Activities
Needing help and support does not mean our residents are unable to lead a rich and fulfilling life at Woodleigh.
We have many regular activities happening in the home that residents are encouraged to take part in such as visiting entertainers, fashion shows, exercise sessions and reminiscing. We encourage residents to suggest new activities and encourage and facilitate past hobbies and interested to be continued.
At Woodleigh, we have many events and trips outside the home too. These include local school events including drama and craft, regular days out and bus trips (relatives are always welcome), ‘Friends on Friday’ consisting of Knitting, nattering, and games, Dementia Friendly Cinema at Mansfield Library, Memory Cafe at Mansfield Museum, musical afternoons, Summer Strawberry Fayre and film nights. Our charity ‘Friends of Woodleigh’ also organises events, supports trips out, and buys presents at Christmas for all our residents.
The home also has its own weekly choir that puts on concerts for residents and has been a finalist in national competitions.
Delicious Food
All our delicious food is freshly prepared using good quality ingredients from local suppliers and there is plenty of choice. Our four weekly menu rota ensures a well-balanced and varied diet and there are many alternative options to cater for any specific dietary requirement including vegetarian and vegan dishes. Of course, if there is something residents particularly fancy, perhaps an old favourite, then our cooks will be delighted to help.
Residents can eat in our homely dining rooms or, if they prefer, we’re pleased to serve their meal in the privacy of their own rooms.
Some of the nutritious and tasty options on the menus include; tender and succulent braised steak and onions, hearty homemade sausage casserole, slow cooked chicken stew and for dessert, warm, melt in the mouth chocolate sponge cake with ice cream, double cream or custard or summer fruit sponge cake.
Mealtimes provide an opportunity for much enjoyment, and we get great satisfaction from the positive feedback we’ve had from residents.
Our Facilities
Originally a fine Victorian house and convent, Woodleigh has been sympathetically added to and modernised. Today it is not only a beautiful home with many of its fine original features intact, but also one that offers some of the best nursing and residential facilities in the area.
All of our bedrooms are individually and tastefully decorated, most with en-suite facilities for comfort and convenience. They are furnished to a high standard, and we encourage residents to personalise their rooms by bringing their own special mementos, photos, or perhaps even a favourite chair or piece of furniture – we want residents to feel that Woodleigh is truly their home.
Our four lounges and two dining rooms give plenty of choice when it comes to socializing with friends and relatives, so there are plenty of spaces to have a cup of tea or a chat. One of our dining rooms has been lovingly converted from the home’s original chapel, whilst the style of another recalls a previous era through its many Victorian features. Sometimes people want quieter moments to themselves, perhaps to read or spend time with good memories, and we have a number of smaller seating areas that offer more privacy.
Many residents spend much of their time in our lovely garden. In warmer months it provides a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the many flowers, and some of the pet birds that the home has. In summer we organise tea parties, BBQs and other events outside so that everyone can come together and enjoy the sunshine.
