Events

Here at Woodleigh Christian Care Home, we always have a number of events happening through the year. From entertainers, to day trips to the coast, from services to fairs, there is always something for everyone to enjoy.

Below you will find information about all of our upcoming events at Woodleigh, including if we are looking for any volunteers to help us. If you are interested in helping us as a volunteer, give us a call and ask for Marion.

Our Regular Events

Professional Entertainer visits including musicians, magicians etc.

Visits by a professional Chiropodist.

Local school events (from drama to craft)

Regular days out & bus trips - relatives welcome.

Our Choir "The Woodleigh Warblers" practice every Tuesday at 5pm in the TV lounge.

Every Tuesday Fellowship with our Chaplain Helen at 2:30pm.

Welcome Break at Mansfield Baptist Church a local tea parties (2nd Thursday of every month at 3pm)..

Friends on Friday  (Knit, Natter, and games) - Every Friday at 10:30 am to 12:00noon.

Singing for the Brain at St Johns Centre, Monthly as advertised on the notice boards.

Holy Communion With Rev. Linda Williams - 2nd Monday of every month (14:30).

Dementia Friendly Cinema at Mansfield Library, Monthly at 2pm dates as shown on the notice board.

Ladies after Lunch. on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays every month at 3pm. We meet in the Williams lounge and have a drink and cake and have a chat as we knit, sow and play games. We share memories with plenty of laughter.

Meet Katy`s Scout the dog most Fridays.

A Movie afternoon every Thursday at 2pm in the Garden Lounge.

Mens Club every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 3pm.

Memory Cafe at Mansfield Museum , monthly on a Wednesday at 2:30pm.

Additional events are regularly advertised on the two notice boards in the dining rooms.

2018 marked a special milestone for WoodleighCare. It is 30 years since the Mansfield Community, headed by a team of doctors, nurses, care assistants, domestic assistants, cooks, and Christians pulled together to put a Christian care home in Mansfield. 

Harvest Festival Service

Harvest is always a special time of year for us at Woodleigh, and that is especially the case in our 30th Anniversary year.

Our Chaplain Helen Curzon will be hosting a special Harvest Service and we are currently collecting donations for us to donate to local charities in the form if tinned goods and gifts.

Bonfire Night

Each year we always look forward to hosting our annual Bonfire Night Firework Display. It is always one of our highlights of the year and often includes a variety of food, drink and stalls available.

We don't currently have a date and time for our Firework display, but we will publish it as soon as we do. Keep a close eye on this page.

Armistice Day Service

"Lest We Forget"

Armistice Day is very important to us here at WoodleighCare. We will never forget the sacrifice that our friends, family and loved ones have made for us both at home and abroad.

We are very lucky to be based so close to Chesterfield Road where the Armistice Day parade will walk past us. We will be lining the street to join the parade as it passes us, and then returning to Woodleigh for a short service lead by our Chaplain Helen Curzon.

Everyone is welcome and we would love to have you join us in remembrance on this day.

Christmas Fayre

"It's Chriiiiistmas!!"

As we approach the lead up to Christmas, we always enjoy welcoming everyone in to Woodleigh for our annual Christmas Fayre. It is always a very busy afternoon with plenty to see and do, including raffles, tombolas, cake stands, clothing, Christmas decorations and gifts and more.

These events help to raise money for the 'Friends of Woodleigh' charity which pays for activites, events and days out for the Resident's, so it would be wonderful to see you there as you have a fun afternoon and support our Residents.

Carols Round the Christmas Tree

Come and join us on Christmas Eve as we come together with our friends and family to sing Christmas Carols.

Lead by our very own 'Woodleigh Warblers' Choir, we will sing a range of carols and share some mince pies and mulled wine (non-alcoholic refreshments will be available).

We would love for you to join us we welcome in Christmas!

Mothering Sunday Service

Easter is always a special time of year for us at Woodleigh.

Our Chaplain Helen Curzon will be hosting a special Good Friday to which all are welcome.

In Loving Memory Service

Our Chaplain Helen Curzon will be leading us in a service of thanksgiving and remembrance for all those loved ones no longer with us.

Everyone is welcome to join us. The service will last approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by hot drinks and refreshments. It would be lovely to see you there.

 

Easter Sunday Service

This service will be led by Rev Linda Williams and will be a service of Holy Communion.  All are welcome to share in this service.

Father`s Day

Service to celebrate Fathers Day.

Summer Strawberry Fayre

There will be stalls and games and entertainment for all the  family

Our brilliant Ambitions Team will be hosting a summer fayre.

All money raised will go to the 'Friends of Woodleigh' charity which pays for activities and events for the residents.

Home Cooked Heritage

2:00pm to 4:00pm

Inspire :Culture :Learning, Part of the Nottinghamshire Library service will coming to join us and ask " how has our food changed over the years"

Musical Afternoon

2:30pm to 4:00pm

Songs from the musicals with Natalie Walker followed by a musical quiz.  Please come dressed as your favourite character from the musicals.

Country and Western Evening

6:00pm to 8:00pm

Cowboy Vic will be leading the singing and possibly dancing. So please put on your cowboy hats and boots and "mosey" on down.  There will be a barbecue, Please let our ambitions coordinators, Rachel, Marion or Katy know if you are coming.
