The Great British Care Awards are held every year, and they celebrate the excellence we have in the Care Sector. Finalists across over 20 categories from Care Homes, providers, home care companies, food suppliers and much more all come together to showcase the amazing staff that work in this often challenging but always rewarding part of health care.
We always love the opportunity to nominate our staff for these awards and to give them their moment to see just how important they are to everything we do, and this year is no exception. Across the WoodleighCare group we had an amazing 14 finalists across 12 categories. The finalists are decided by a shortlisting process that narrows the numbers down from hundreds to the lucky 6 or 7.
Our finalists this year were: Ashley Baird (Care Home Manager Award), Jack Leivers & Emma Daws (Dignity in Care Award), Shaneen Khan & Jordan Ichen (Dementia Carer Award), Laura White (Care Home Worker Award), Baily House Care Team (Care Team Award), Lea
Wall & Chris Foreman (Ancillary Worker Award), Jade Parke & Sarah Gregory (Activities Co-ordinators Award), Wendy Layton (Care Plan Assessor Award), Karen Stowe (Putting People First Award) and Sharron Craddock (Good Nurse Award).
To even be shortlisted is an incredible achievement and we are so proud of each and every one of our finalists for their commitment to their residents and their huge affinity for care.
Unfortunately we didn’t come away with any winners this year… however there was a surprise award at the end of the night. Our wonderful owner John Walton was awarded the prestigious ‘Outstanding Contributions to Social Care’. It was so nice to see him get the recognition he deserves for all of the hard work he puts in, not just at WoodleighCare but with his work as the head of the Nottinghamshire Care Association. He really is one in a million, and our residents lives are all the better for having him at the helm!
